Seminars
T.J. frequently presents one night music seminars at various community education
programs, activity centers, and country clubs. These workshops tackle a particular
musical topic and are designed for those interested in learning music, but
who aren't able to take private or group lessons. If you are interested in
booking a seminar for your group (a group of 5 is required), then please choose
from one of the workshops listed below and contact T.J.
Instant Piano (for Hopelessly Busy People)
Some music teachers may not want you to know this, but
you don’t need years of weekly lessons to learn piano.
In just half a day you can learn enough to give you
years of musical enjoyment, whether entertaining
others or just for your own amusement. The
traditional approach teaches note reading, while
professional pianists use chords. Here, you will
learn all the chords you’ll need to play any song in
this one session. Any song, Any style, Any Key.
You’ll then perfect your technique at home, using an
exclusive CD or cassette provided by the instructor.
It’s easy, fun, and musically correct! If you already
know your way around the keyboard a little, you know
enough to enroll in this workshop. If not, a free
pamphlet will be provided that explains the basics.
Songwriting and Composing
Have you ever wanted to write a song? Have you ever had a melody
in your head, but didn’t know how to write it down? In this class, you will
learn the basics of writing and arranging music. The class is open to all
levels of musicians, regardless of experience or interest. Topics include
melody, harmony, rhythm, writing for instruments, and music publishing.
Feel free to bring along your instrument or music that you’ve written.
Children’s Piano Camp
If you have ever wondered if piano lessons are right for your child, then this
is the class for you. In one evening, children will have the opportunity to play
music games, learn basic piano concepts, and play on electronic keyboards. The
class will also discuss the different options for piano study including private
lessons, group lessons, and finding the best teacher for your child. All children
must be between the ages of 7 and 11, and be accompanied by a parent.
