About T.J.
T.J. Bazzoon started playing piano at age 11 and organ at age 20.
He received a Master’s Degree in Music from the University of Texas
in 2003. Currently, T.J. is the music director and keyboardist for St.
John Lutheran Church in Boerne, Texas. There he directs choirs, arranges
for various music groups and leads a praise band.
For the past six years, T.J. has taught piano throughout
the Central Texas area. He teaches both privately and through a variety
of community education programs. Early in his teaching career, T.J. realized
the importance of helping students achieve their musical goals, instead
of following a predetermined plan. Rather than insist that all students
learn a certain way, T.J. designs his teaching around a student’s
needs. Because of this, T.J.’s students learn all kinds of music
including classical, country, jazz, hymns, Christmas carols, and popular
melodies. His students range in age from 6 to 75. Some want a musical career,
while others want to play for fun. During the past year, T.J. developed
his own set of teaching materials, which cover a broad range of musical
styles and topics. His teaching always reflects the idea that students
of any age, background or musical aptitude can learn to play piano.
